The body of a six-year-old girl was found stuffed in a bucket left outside her biological mother's home in Louisiana. Police have now arrested the girlfriend of the child's father, Hannah Landon, and launched a murder investigation into the killing.
Bella Fontenelle was found inside a 10-gallon chlorine bucket on the front lawn of her mother’s house at 8:20 a.m. Following the discovery of Bella's body, police began a search for Landon, 43.
Fontenelle’s father had previously reported the child and his girlfriend missing Wednesday morning as they were nowhere to be found when he woke up. Investigators believe that the girl was killed at the father's home before being taken to the biological mother's house. Police interviewed the father following the discovery of his daughter's body but do not believe he is involved.
Landon was arrested Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital. Authorities would not say why she was at the hospital. Landon was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correction Center on Thursday facing counts of first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. On Thursday, a judge determined that she should be held without bond.
